Following successive clearances of condemned high rise housing, a new urban area has reestablished itself at the heart of the area widely referred to as the Gorbals. The masterplan development led by Stallan-Brand has focused on integrating more traditional tenemental forms of housing within a vibrant and safe area; the new scale and density in tune with the area’s Victorian past.
It’s encouraging and great to see wider transformation reconnecting with the River Clyde and the city centre, with landscaping at the heart of the community’s centre. The East – West axis of the new Laurieston Living linear park meant early morning or the last afternoon light was the best time to do photography, and at both times of day the place came alive with the buzz of people walking through and families enjoying the area.
