Natural forms, colour, and composition have always been areas of interest, and working with photographs as a starting point, digital techniques balance here with fluid hand drawn line. I was reminded of this ‘Blue Orchid’ piece i made many years ago from a photograph taken in Glasgow’s Botanic gardens, and recently reworked it to bring in some additional colour and realising a similar colour palette was used in the more recent images here below.
‘Fig Tree with Leaves and Light II’, and ‘White Flower Light’ were recent private commissions from a garden in Edinburgh, and also use photography as the starting point. 35mm and digital photographs are carefully built up in layers, playing with techniques to enhance colour and adding drawing into the picture.
