Boomerang House

John Murray Architect

Referencing both the shape of the building and the owner’s previous home in Australia, the Boomerang House designed by John Murray Architect occupies a sloping triangular site in Dumfries and Galloway, with views across Loch Ken. Guest accommodation and a garage are on the lower level with the upper floor offering relaxed and generous kitchen and living spaces that open out to a private garden area to the rear with large openings that connect the garden to the house.

A real pleasure to photograph this one. With so many leading lines and angles, I had a rich choice of shots to set up. Getting consistency in interior tone required patience with the weather, and it was worth making an additional visit to ensure interior and exterior were photographed in good quality light.
